Children's Stories Inspired by the Maileg Trolls
This past summer, we gifted a classroom the Maileg Trolls in cooperation with a creative summer assignment. The trolls quickly became children's summertime sidekick, accompanying them as a friendly companion on all their adventures. Many students submitted wonderful stories and illustrations about the fun they had with their Maileg Troll, and we're excited to share some of them with you today!
Summer '23 Writing and Drawing Contest Prompt
Today you are bringing home a new friend! This friend is a gift from a Danish toy company called Maileg. Your new friend is ready for a summer adventure with you! If you would like to document your summer adventure with your MailegTroll, you can write a story and draw a picture. Three students will be chosen as winners. Their work will be featured on the Maileg website. Maileg believes that “the best stories are the children’s stories.” Please follow these directions for the summer writing and drawing contest. Have fun!
Choose an original, creative name for your new friend.
Take your friend on a summer adventure.
Write a story describing your adventure. Your story should be 7 sentences or more.
Create artwork showing your adventure. Include yourself and your new friend in your picture.

Our last story features the silly and fun-loving Pickles. Student, NG, chose to write and illustrate a comic book to showcase Pickle's wonderful adventures. Have fun reading along and seeing NG's amazing drawings!

The Maileg team was so heart-warmed to read about summer fun the students had with the Maileg Trolls. From exploring the Statue of Liberty, encountering alligators, sipping on slushies, and splashing around at water parks, the children's imaginative tales came to life with creative stories and beautiful drawings.
We're grateful to the classroom for embracing the silly Trolls, and allowing them to spark creativity and joy for young minds. We love to see the magic of friendship and imagination unfold with the help of these charming little creatures, and we look forward to hearing more Maileg Troll adventures in the future!
