A compilation of small stories

The Maileg Mice are headed to the beach for holiday! They could barely sleep last night because they are so excited! They can’t wait to feel the warm sand between their toes and make new memories together. 

Their wagon is packed to the brim with all the essentials- floats, chairs and, of course lots of sunscreen. Big brother is in charge of pulling the wagon to the shore and he is working up a sweat!  When he decides to take a break, he sees that all of his siblings are sitting in the wagon giggling - no wonder he was getting so tired! 

Once the mice see lifeguard cat’s lighthouse in the distance, they know they’ve almost arrived! They scurry to throw all their things in the colorful beach huts and run to the shorefront. The sun is shining and the water is glistening; the mice are ready for a great day at the beach!

Big brother and sister look forward to their summer beach trips every year. The two siblings like to do different activities on holiday. Big sister loves the sunshine and aspires to get as tan as the surfers. She likes to sip on a refreshing sparkling water and watch the tide go in and out. You can always find her laying on her comfy air mattress whether she’s floating in the water or napping under the umbrella. 

Big brother has his beach gear on and is ready to hit the waves! He can spend hours in the water and have a blast. His trusty googles allow him to see under water and search for fish or hidden treasure, and his flippers allow him to swim super fast. He always brings his tube with him in case he needs a little break from swimming. He loves to meet other kids at the beach and play Marco Polo with them. 

Mum likes to relax on a beach chair and make shapes in the sand with her toes. She looks out for seashells to add to her collection. She hopes to find a conch shell so she can bring the peaceful ocean waves back home with her. 

Little sister loves to make creations with her sand toys. Her and mum work together to make a pretty castle decorated with shells and seaweed. Mum makes sure to keep her eyes peeled because little brother is silly and likes to pour buckets of water on little sister when she’s not looking. 

Dad mouse is taking a relaxing float in the water. Is he alseep? Let's hope he wakes up soon to reapply sunscreen, he's looking burnt! 

Little brother decided to give his shenanigans a rest and head to the water. He hops in his raft and paddles through the waves with his makeshift shovel paddle. He sees the surf instructor and his two pupils in the distance and cheers them on as they navigate the waves. Little brother hopes to do surfing lessons one day so he can do cool tricks.

The surfers are out on the waves everyday. They love to learn new tricks! They sometimes fall, but that's ok because the water feels so refreshing. They enjoy seeing new faces at the beach and making new friends. 

Dad finally woke up and put on his comfy robe because (as you can probably guess) he's sun burnt! He keeps watch over his kids playing on the shoreline and chats with lifeguard cat about the waves. Lifeguard cat gave dad a tour of his tower and showed him how his chair can double as a lighthouse at night - so cool!

The sun begins to set, creating a beautiful sunset on the horizon and the mice are getting hungry for dinner. They retire their beach accessories for the night and head in to rest. Dad pulls little brother in the wagon because he's so tired! Lifeguard waves bye to the mice but knows they will be back soon for another great day at the beach!
